So Frustrating! Delivery man is pranking me! What should I do?

Ok. So i ordered a bunch of books off amazon. I ordered, and i must stress this, FIRST CLASS POST delivery.

So Amazon gives the package to a courier company… why? I don’t know.

The company states i have to wait all day for the delivery. I wait from 7am – 7pm putting my life on hold. They don’t come on day they called and said it would on. Ask where it is. Says it will come tomorrow. I wait next day. I am upstairs. I look down, the delivery man just slips a note in the door, stating that I and my neighbors are busy. He does not ring the doorbell, nor my neighbors. Both our dogs would bark if it did. I can clearly hear my doorbell ring upstairs (small house :) )

I phone up, complain. Says they will come again. He does the exact same thing again. I rush out to stop him leaving, call out to him. Looks around. Then gets into the lorry, and drives away.

Now they are just taking the piss. They don’t even carry the packages to the door, they just slip a ‘im busy’ note under the door.

Are they doing this because they make more money coming out every time? This is so ridiculous, i can’t even complain now – i imagine it will make things worse. Even when he sees me he drives off. I need those books desperately. Putting my life on hold to wait for a damn delivery. The depot is really far away, but i think i might try driving there. What do you think i should do?

To whom it may concern,

It’s with great annoyance that I am writing to you but in light of what has happened I feel compelled to do so. I am sure that yourselves like any other company aim to please each of your customer’s in every way possible.
I ordered a dress from your website on Sunday 02 November 2008 (ORDER NUMBER ********) as a gift for someone to be given on Fri 7 November, and requested the “next day delivery option” charge, so that the item ordered, would be with me as requested "THE NEXT DAY".
This was perhaps was a bit presumptuous of myself but thought “yes, perhaps its taken that bit longer is it may need to be shipped to Northern Ireland” but even after having read & understood the exceptions for delivery on your website, (Exceptions * For Northern Ireland: please allow up to 2 working days for express deliveries and 4 working days for standard deliveries.), I would have expected my order to have been delivered at the very latest on Wednesday 5th Dec.
So I have now waited all day Thursday and still no parcel has been delivered.
I have tracked the order on the website of the courier company (HDNL) that you use, in a link provided in a previous email from yourselves & its showing as having been "delivered" on 5th Nov, but I can assure you that this is not the case, as someone was in the home all day.
In any case I’m now very annoyed as it’s Thursday 6th of November, the night before the gift was to be given & it still has not been delivered, even more so annoyed as I paid an extra fee to have the item delivered "express", albeit it was only £1.00 extra but its the principle of the matter. When you pay for a service the least you expect is the highest of quality service in return.
On this occasion you have failed to deliver & this would seriously make me reconsider using your service’s again in future.

As you are the company that I have ordered the dress from in the 1st instance I am holding yourselves responsible.
I would like you to explain why you have let me down on this occasion and would expect a full refund of the delivery charge credited back to my card.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Is it illegal to put a note on the apartment building main door for a courier service?

Please help me…i live in a flat in a building.last week I was expecting a delivery from a courier company. it was very important. but they had got a wrong apartment number…they buzzed number 4 instead of 14…..because of which i missed the delivery….they left me a note saying i missed it.
so next day they were going to deliver it again, i put a note on our apartment building main door saying ‘ please press number 14 instead of 4′ ….i got the delivery right……
now today the maintanence boy of our apartment is saying that i have to pay a fine of 482pounds and face a police enquiry….as i put a note…..what should i do??? please help………i am not from uk i dont know the laws here…
